A couple of weeks ago I went out in public again, in girl-mode. I wore a tight black t-shirt, tight black leather-look leggings and my new bright pink hiker boots from Koi Footwear, along with eye makeup. Looking back, I suppose it was quite a daring outfit – I certainly felt quite exposed, possibly because it was the first time out wearing tight clothes that showed everything! There was nowhere to hide (except under my red hoodie)!

The major thing about this outing was that I got fully dressed at home and went out in full view of my wife. I was dreading what she might say and it took me half an hour to summon up the courage to go downstairs! Thankfully, she didn’t say much to me, but I don’t know how she was feeling inside…
I went out to Lakeside, stopping at TKMaxx first, which was really busy. That threw me for a bit, I hadn’t expected so many people, but it was the first week that England had reopened, so I don’t know what I was thinking! I think I got a couple of glances, but everyone was mostly preoccupied with getting some new clothes!
Lakeside itself was reasonably busy, I had to queue to get into Primark, but it was absolutely mental inside! I had wanted to get a few things, but the lines to pay went around most of the shop. I didn’t feel like I could spend that long standing with the same people in the queue, I’d have felt more open to scrutiny, so I left and went to New Look which was quieter, and picked up a new top and some necklaces in the sale.
I got a burrito and came back home as I had to get my daughter from school. I changed from the shiny leggings into more conservative black jeggings, but kept the rest of my outfit, including the makeup. I got a weird look from one of the mums, as if she was going to comment on something, but then she didn’t!
In all, a good day. Might get a longer top to go with the leggings in future, I felt very conscious of my “groinal area”. My wife’s only comment, after a couple of days, was that she didn’t like my pink eyeshadow, as it made me look ill, apparently…
Well done Katie, baby steps 🙂
